ABOUT TIGER EYE
This is quite a lucky crystal, bringing power, motivation, abundance, and energy. It’s a stone of courage and self confidence. It’ll help sharpen your mind, focus your intentions and keep your emotions from ruling your actions. All of these factors lead to more productivity, which can lead to abundance and wealth, which is why this is considered a prosperity stone.
Tiger’s Eye does so much for our wild emotions, too. Particularly if you’re a water sign, or ruled by a lot of big feelings and emotions, Tiger’s Eye is a stone that can calm those choppy waters and help you ease the mind to thinking clearly, not from a place of emotions. Tiger’s Eye can stabilize our moods, reduce mood swings and eliminate tension. It’s particularly helpful for those that are overly anxious, moody, short-tempered or stressed (as we all can be!).
Labradorite is the Stone of Magic. Innuit peoples believed the Aurora Borealis was trapped in the stone, creating the gorgeous flashes within. To others, labradorite (and another form of feldspar, called “spectrolite”), connects us to unseen realms; increasing our psychic or intuitive abilities, enhancing our dreams or dreamwork, and for general self-discovery, delving deeper into our own awareness. This is an incredibly protective stone, shielding you from negativity and harm. It tempers our shame and self-criticism, and instead brings out the best in people. This is a must-have stone for healers and lightworkers, those practicing anything from traditional mental health (therapy) to Reiki and other energy work. This is a throat chakra stone, and one of the stones associated with zodiac sign of Sagittarius.
There’s a saying with essential oil enthusiasts: when in doubt, use lavender. Well, it’s the same with crystal lovers and rock hounds. When in doubt, use AMETHYST! (And isn’t it funny that they both present to us in shades of purple?). I’ve yet to meet a person who didn’t love amethyst. It is a classic stone, and one of the oldest crystals to work with humans. The varying purple hues are absolutely enchanting and the crystals are always glassy and glittery. Even if you’re not in it for the metaphysical properties, just having amethyst in your home enhancing the beauty and attracts awe and love.
Amethyst ranges in shades from lavender, rose and lilac to deep, rich grape (called ‘grape jelly’) . It most commonly forms in clusters or in geodes. The metaphysical properties of amethyst are plenty: it’s best known for being a calming stone (great to keep in the bedroom) that encourages sobriety – the Ancient Greeks revered the stone for this reason, and it’s name comes from the Greek “ametusthos” meaning “not intoxicated.” Today, crystal healers and rock lovers use it as an all purpose stone. It’s soothing, relieves stress, and promotes love, peace, tranquility and ease. It is highly spiritual as well, tapping into the Crown Chakra, and helping us find wisdom, hone our inner voice and sharpen our intuition. It is one of the few stones that I will definitely have in the bedroom, for its soothing, calming effect which aids sleep (for some, it can enhance dreams, too). It is an incredibly healing stone, especially on an emotional level. You can’t go wrong with having amethyst in your home, wearing it on your person, or carrying in a medicine bag. It’s another stone with highly spiritual attributes that is connected with the higher chakras, enhancing intuitive and psychic abilities, and connecting us with the spiritual realms.
Moonstone is one of the gemstones used and beloved by humans for centuries. It is a Master Feminine Healer stone: it wraps the wearer or holder in a soothing glow of warmth, comfort and nourishment. The Mother Moon of the mineral world. This is a stone for new beginnings, one of renewal, no matter your stage of life. Moonstone is first and foremost a talisman on our journey to our inner worlds. It’s mysterious flash mirrors the mysterious nature of the stone, inviting us to look deeper, and find our truths. Moonstone helps us draw out what has been hidden, repressed, or waiting deep down, and bring it out into the light.
Moonstone, like Labradorite or Spectrolite, is a member of the Feldspar family. While it is named for the moon and its similar silvery glow, Moonstone occurs in a rainbow of colors and a variety of chatoyancy (the name for this iridescent reflection). While the inner essence of Moonstone remains the same across its many variations, there are some differences among the varying colors of this mineral.
Moonstone carries the energy of the full moon, and effects us on a deeply emotional level. For women, it’s activating; for men, it’s emotionally balancing. This is a stone for dreamwork, psychic vision, and our inner worlds. It’s a wonderful stone for children, to drive away nightmares or insomnia.
ABOUT SMOKY QUARTZ
Smoky Quartz (also sometimes spelled “smokey quartz”) is the ultimate negativity buster. It absorbs, transmutes, and releases negative energies. For this reason, it needs to be cleansed and cleared often. One legend says that smoky quartz was once clear quartz, but by absorbing all the negativity and stagnant energy around it, it turned dark. It’s a seriously gorgeous stone that is found all over the world and has so many amazing applications in both a functional home and spiritual practice. Place it in main living spaces to keep energy clear, positive and grounded. Put one in your bedroom to keep energy light and to aide sleep. Points are great for use in crystal grids: You can grid your home with smoky quartz and selenite to offer protection to your space (by placing one point in each corner). Likewise, you can grid your bedroom or your bed (putting one point in each of the four corners). Personally, I think the most important and hardest working smoky quartz point is the one above the front door: place one on the door jam above your front door (and any doors or windows that open to the outside for that matter), to help guests check their energy and leave their negativity outside.
Metaphysically speaking, smoky quartz transmutes negative energies and protects. It’s grounding, uplifting, and spiritual all at once. It aligns all of the chakras, clears the aura and resonates with every sign of the zodiac. If you collect any one stone, next to clear quartz, let it be (NATURAL!) smoky quartz. It is so flexible in its energy, pure in its intention, and reliable in its healing and grounding abilities. It’s my personal opinion that you can’t ever have too much smoky quartz 🙂
All stones and crystals in our shop have been cleansed with our natural mountain spring water (except for those that may dissolve in water, such as selenite) and have been smudged with organic white sage, harvested sustainably and produced fairly.
Please note that crystals, minerals and fossils are a natural product and are rarely perfect. I do my best to capture each side of each piece in the photos. They are creations of Mother Nature that have weathered thousands of years in the earth and I cannot guarantee them completely. They are natural objects. All photographs are taken outside, in natural sunlight, and the photos are NEVER altered.
